You Can't Rewrite History
Kristen Billy, the world renowned financial adviser that he thinks he is, has tried to pull a couple dandies on this site. In addition to suffering from multiple personality disorders, he's tried to argue that time stands still just to name a few; and now he's trying to rewrite history.
Trying to exempt his favorite president from any responsibility for today's economy, Kristen has tried on numerous occasions to claim the situation a president inherits is meaningless. Of course a situation a president inherits is paramount. When you inherit an economy that was losing 700,000 jobs a month, that lost 40% of its market value, that was waging two endless wars for almost a decade, that had an annual budget deficit of $1.5 trillion, the situation inherited is anything but meaningless. But that's what Kristen wants. Like all Republicans he doesn't want Bush ever mentioned again. Unless, of course, we are talking about how Bush gets all the credit for killing bin Laden, there's no reason to bring his name up again. It's all meaningless except for the good stuff.
Realizing that saying the situation a president inherits is meaningless borders insanity, Kristen has now tried to rewrite history and make it look like all along he was simply saying Obama should have Bush's mess cleaned up by now.
"Over three years into one's administration, what was inherited has little meaning. As Spinner writes, the spending is in your control."
There's just one thing wrong with that. That is not at all what Kristen has been saying. He's never mentioned anything about three years later the situation is meaningless. He's never ever put a time-frame on it at all. Instead he has always maintained that the situation a president inherits is meaningless. But let's be honest here. Obama just didn't inherit a bad situation. He inherited the worst situation any elected president has ever inherited.
Let's lay a couple things out here real quick. No elected president in the history of America has ever inherited an economy in collapse with a market that had lost 40% of its value bleeding almost a million jobs a month, coupled with a budget deficit of $1.5 trillion and tripled by two ongoing endless wars. It's never happened before. It's the worst situation anyone elected has ever had.
Now the real messed up part is that first Kristen tried to say that it was meaningless. A situation like that is not meaningless. Now he's trying to say it all should be cleaned up by now. The worst economic situation since the Great Depression along with two endless wars and a huge budget deficit should be fixed in 3 years? Impossible. No one could have pulled that off. But that's what Kristen and his GOP is trying to say. They are trying to say what he inherited was nothing big, nothing too bad at all. It only got worse after Obama took office. There's lies and then there are damned lies. There's no reason to let them get away with it.
