Quickies- Freedom Weekend Edition

• Marist poll suggests more than a quarter of Americans don't know we declared independence from liberals England.

• We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. -The Declaration of Independence 4 of July, 1776. Yep doesn't say one word about women, blacks, hispanics or Democrats.

• The population of America on July 4, 1776 was approx 2.5 million [not including slaves].

• Harvard study says kids who attend 4th of July parades are more likely to identify as Republican when they get older.  Study also found Republicans think they are more patriotic than anyone else.

• The Fold Blog is going to go silent this weekend as we celebrate our nation's birthday by consuming large amounts of patriotic beverages, sit around with friends and make fun of Republicans.
