The saga of Republican Senator John Ensign is far from over. As you'll remember, Ensign had an a long term affair with a friend/staffer's wife. Once his friend and staffer learned of the affair, Ensign helped land his mistresses husband lobbying jobs even hiring their teenage son as a political adviser to the senator. As if that wasn't enough, Ensign's parents had to pay off the mistress in the sum of $96,000 to keep her from going public with the affair. Not too shabby for a self-proclaimed Christian-conservative-moral values-Republican is it?
Given all that we already know about Ensign's ordeal, the senator told CNN today that everything he did was ethical.
"We absolutely did nothing except for comply exactly with what the ethics laws and the ethics rules of the Senate state."
