I really don't understand the whole Republican reaction to President Obama lobbying for his hometown to host the Olympics. If Obama was not out lobbying for it, Republicans would be saying he is un-American for turning his back on his hometown and his home country. The Republican game plan is to oppose whatever the president supports. For something that is such a non-story as this, it wouldn't hurt to at least cut the president some slack for doing what anyone would do.
I'm from Illinois, however. And I don't want the Olympics in Chicago. It has nothing to do with my steadfast dislike of thecity Cubs. I don't want it anywhere. I'm just that way though. Sure the commerce the games would bring are much needed here in Illinois, but the headaches make it not worth it. So if it were up to me, the games would be in some far off place. But it's not up to me and I live 400 miles south of Chicago so either way it's just as pointless for me to be hounding the president for wanting the games as it is for Republicans who merely just want to oppose anything that might appear as a win for Obama.
