I think it's pretty well known that Fox News' programming is slanted toward the Republican Party. It's not conservative programming, it's Republican. I have yet to find anything conservative about a Party that ran up the largest deficit in human history, increased the size of government more than any time since FDR and has as their only domestic successes for a two-term president two huge government programs in NCLB and an expansion of Medicare. It's a farce to call any of that conservative.
Keep in mind, throughout the entirety of Bush's 8 years, Fox News never once called it a socialist takeover, never organized one single protest against the administration and never promoted any serious discussion criticizing the Republican government. They were Bush enablers. They carried the water for the Republican Party. Conservatism has nothing to do with it. Thus, Fox News has a well known Republican slant.
Big deal really. Does anyone care?
The only way to effectively change Fox is if other networks called them out on their programming. This little tiff between the White House and Fox will accomplish nothing and looks silly.
The best example of how other networks behold the power to change Fox News is when CNN debunked Fox's breaking news report that Obama had attended a madrassa while a child living in Indonesia. Of course Fox never corrected their story and never apologized for such libel accusations, but CNN's debunking did effectively kill that Republican talking point. Just imagine if CNN had pressed Fox even further or started debunking other untrue stories from Fox the change it could bring.
For some reason other networks dare not directly challenge their biggest competitor. It's a shame too because it would only take a few weeks to cripple Fox while the other networks gobbled up their ratings. It's a missed opportunity but one only other networks can initiate.
