Retro Obama

In a radio interview this morning with Michael Smerconish, who is Republican by the way, President Obama took questions from callers. Before I get on a rant about Bush and his responsibility toward the citizenry, much less appearing on a Democratic radio show, I'll get to the point real quick.

The president actually took a bit of a butt chewing from a caller for his handling of health care reform.
I’m getting a little ticked off that it feels like the knees are buckling a little bit. You have an overwhelming majority in both the House and the Senate, and you own the whole shooting match. And I’m just not getting — it’s very frustrating to watch you try and compromise with a lot of these people who aren’t willing to compromise with you.
There are only a few million of us that would like to say that right now to Obama, so props to the caller. If you want to read the president's answer you can go here, but my point is this is retro Obama. I can remember in the state senate he would return legislation back all marked up like a school teacher. He encouraged debate and sharing of ideas. He loved to be convinced of things that made him think outside the box. It's nice to see retro Obama is still around after moving in to the White House. At the same time, it would be great to see President Obama take the reigns in the health care debate. I mean how much can you compromise with people who think you are a socialistnazi that wants to form death panels?
