Last week former Reagan-appointed judge Richard Posner wrote on his blog that conservative intellectuals have no party. His reasoning was that the new modern GOP is founded in emotion, religion, American Exceptionalism, the rejection of science and "fiscal incontinence." My question to him is if all that constitutes modern conservatism then what in the world is intellectual conservatism? I mean, they have such leading thinkers like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Jonah Goldberg and Bill O'Reilly how possibly can intellectualism not be defined by their thoughts, speeches and writings?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest right wingers will insist some sort of conspiracy theory forced Posner to write such a thing and that his post only proves the popularity of GOP ideals in "real American" society.
