Some quick highlights that I already like about the bill.
- Lots of oversight
- No earmarks
- $32 billion to transform the nation's energy transmission, distribution, and production systems by allowing for a smarter and better grid and focusing investment in renewable technology.
- $6 billion to expand broadband internet access so businesses in rural and other underserved areas can link up to the global economy.
- $30 billion for highway construction.
- $6 billion for higher education modernization (personal stake in this one).
- $43 billion for increased unemployment benefits and job training (personal stake in this one too).
- $4 billion for state and local law enforcement funding (personal stake in this as well).
- $11 billion for research and development, pilot projects, and federal matching funds for the Smart Grid Investment Program to modernize the electricity grid making it more efficient, secure, and reliable and build new power lines to transmit clean, renewable energy from sources throughout the nation.
- Only $275 billion in tax cuts. I much prefer Obama's $300 billion in tax cuts.
- No stipulation for high-speed rails, not that I can find at least.
- I still want more for broadband access.
- I would also like to see something in there about relief for businesses.
