It's Only Socialism for the Small Guys

One of the most amazing things to me about so-called conservatives is their blatant hypocrisy. I don't know how many times I've written on this site that Republicans/conservatives/neocons are hardly opposed to socialism or welfare programs. Quite literally they are anything but opposed to such programs when it comes to Big Business, Big Oil, financial services, their own pocketbooks, pork projects and so on. It's only when tax payer money is used for the little guy do conservatives summons their inner fiscal conservatism side and begin calling everything under the sun socialism, communism or un-American. The auto industry bailout is a perfect example.

As we all know the GOP obstructed the bailout plan that had been agreed upon by the UAW and the Democrats. But why didn't they obstruct the already $1 trillion in bailouts that has been given to the big guys? Largely because the big guys are not union and are not workers but white collar yuppies. Remember it's only socialism when it affects the middle class and below.

20 Senators voted for the financial bailout that voted against the auto workers bailout. Two were Democrats, 18 were Repubs. And let's all remember the auto industry plan wasn't exactly a bailout in terms of a handout of tax payer dollars. It was a loan; whereas the financial plans were actual socialization of industries.
