of me, that the Democratic Party is in complete chaos because Obama didn't pick Hillary as his VP. It is their only hope to portray the Dems as divided and chaotic because they know four more years of George Bush won't win an election.Let me get a few things straight here. I talk to a lot of Dems. Nearly all day long I talk to Democrats. Way more than I talk to Republicans. And I have yet to come across one single Democrat who has said they won't vote for Barack Obama. I've had some tell me they supported Hillary over BO but not one has said they will not vote for Obama. Yet Fox News, even at the Convention where not one bit of divisiveness has been demonstrated, and even though Hillary herself stood up and said the Party was united and had a goal to win back the presidency, Fox and their circle jerk Republicans still want people to believe the Dems are on the verge of collapse. Here's just a brief take on how Fox is hoping for chaos.
And their newest article is as classic Faux News as it gets. If you read the article it mentions Illinois Senate President Emil Jones. I personally know President Jones. I worked for him for almost three years. It is totally irrelevant what he may have called someone who supports Hillary over Obama. Besides that, Hillary grew up in Chicago. She had many supporters in that city. Senator Jones knows that, BO knows that first hand. And Obama had no troubles winning Illinois in the primary. There was not one reason for Emil Jones to call anyone an Uncle Tom because Illinois was/is Obama country. If he did call them an Uncle Tom I seriously doubt that constitutes the total collapse of the Democratic Party. It highlights a disagreement between Emil Jones and a Hillary supporter but the Dems are more than just two people.
With all that said, and I know this may get me in more trouble than it's worth, I've worked in Illinois politics for almost a decade now. I've yet to see the black caucus, which is the largest black caucus in the country, to get along on every issue. They argue and fight amongst themselves more than any caucus I've seen. Yet they always pull together in the end. There's no reason to believe a typical dispute between two Chicago black Democrats signals the end of party unity for the Democrats. If anything it signals business as usual.
